JB> TW> In those days Surface ships made a lot of Torpedo Attacks on other
JB> TW> surface ships also. In fact in several WWII battles some Destroyers
JB> TW> made attcaks on Battle Ships. It was mostly a diversionary tatic
JB> TW> though. And also in those days all Battle Groups had several ships with
JB> TW> Spotter planes. Most Battle Ships and Cruisers of the had had them.

JB>But mostly when in range of an occupied air field, right? I've seen some fil

JB>impression it never was too practical. Hence the battle fleet.

NO, They carried their Own Seaplane. They had a catapult on the Stern
of the Ship and a crane to recover the plane from the water.
