The system ate the message addressed to me, drat the gremiln... I have been
trying to find out how much a PV system would cost that will deliver the same
amount of power we currently consume in this dark old house. Somehow this
idea gives poeople diarrahea of the fingertip; I get 30000 word missives on
how to make lists of appliances and light bulbs in use, etc., but nothing
like a straight, simple answer. I think it easier to calculate a
possibility when the cost of a real situation I can relate to in known. LOL

Where we are moving, the wind is a constant factor, blowing at speeds of
about 20 mph about thirty percent of the time. However, I do not want to
depend upon this in the original calculation as I do not have any "official
figures" from the wind maps.

We are using at the moment between 1100 and 1200 KWH per month. That is, 40
KWH per average 24hour day. (Is there another kind?) The new house will not
be as big, nor as dark nor will it have quite as many electricty consumers
in operation at all times. However, there will be additions to the total
power usage, (water pump, greenhouse lighting, etc.) that will more than
offset savings obtained ny more efficient appliacnes, etc. I think it will be
somewhat a toss-up at the moment. For this reason I am still looking for a
ballpark figure of how much it will cost me to install PV equipment to
produce this much power in SW Oklahoma.

Stange worls we live in, eh?
