Listen carefully. This is the last time I'm going to post this. "Free"
means that the person getting the item doesn't have to pay for it. It
doesn't mean that it somebody somewhere didn't pay for it. It just means
that the person getting the phone didn't have to pay for it.
The person getting the "free" phone gets it without having to pay for it
because he has signed a contract for cellular service. If he doesn't
honor that contract (in other words, if he's a deadbeat), then the
cellular carrier won't pay the agent for the phone. The agent therefore
is out the cost of the phone.
