Generally fidonet message readers and editors will treat all text as 
paragraphs delimited by blank lines (not hard returns) and wrap to meet 
screen width.  That's why your original post got messed up.
You only need to insert one blank space at the beginning of each line to 
force formatting to remain intact.  Unfortunately some people do this 
technique for all their message text and it means quoted replies are a mess.  
I'm especially irked by those that post messages with 5 or more blank spaces 
before each line in their message.
