Hi Ann,
-> I am not sure about the Bulbar Polio....What is it???? I haven't hear
-> anything about that name......Feel stupid but thought I would ask.
Darn, it's been such a long time since Polio was headline news! Back
when you read about Polio all the time, there was more descriptive type
information. As I recall it, there were several strains or varieties
of Polio....it's the best way I can put it. Anyway, Bulbar Polio
affected the respiratory system (whether in conjuction with other
paralysis, I don't know). Bulbar Polio is what landed people in the
"Iron Lungs".
Now anyone who is more familiar with Polio, please correct me if I have
not remembered the facts.
I just got out my AMA Medical Encyclopedia. It says and I quote:
"There are three closely related polioviruses".
However, as I'm trying to read and type....it does not describe what
the three different types are. Oh well, maybe someone else can come up
with something more definitive.
