I wasn't offered a choice. I went in to have Brian do some welding inside my
heart and woke up with the pacemaker. When they planted it 9 years ago I was
told it has a 5-year battery. Last time they checked - on follow-up after my
trip to the ER I was told there are still 2 1/2 to 3 years of useful life in
that battery. No one can tell me who made the blamed thing ..... I want to buy
one of their batteries for my car.

My "normal" vision focuses just fine at monitor distances. My
windows are set
at (about) arm's length. I can read or compute using the glasses but it soon
puts a crick in my neck - so I take them off.

If the FAA let him fly - then I suppose ......... I have a friend who did
charters sometimes and had a set of gag glasses he called his "Mr.
Magoo's"
with which he would sometimes freak-out passengers. He made it to 80 (so far)
but his medical got pulled a couple years ago so he quit flying without ever a
dead-stick (except in training) or wheels up incident. Even if he did/does
have a rather fey sense of humour.
