No. This afternoon, at a local thrift store, I bought a USR 14.4 fax/modem, 
still sealed in its original shrinkwrap, for $7. I don't know where you live, 
but around here you can buy new and faster modems for less, much less, than 
$45--after the rebates. The cheap ones are brand X and internal ones, to 
boot. In other words, if you own a Mac, forget it; possibly it also won't 
work with your OS. But someone out there is getting new modems for a nice
