I already have the HD caddy and the adapter that goes between that and the ThinkPad 770E UltraBay, where I'm trying to install it as a second HD. The HD is a brand new Hitachi/IBM TravelStar (or something like that; I don't have it in front of me), 40 gb. The caddy, as I said the innermost (metal) cover, is labeled 8.3 gb. (The adapter is supposed to work with either end or side connections.) There is nothing I have that can see it in this configuration, Win98 (I mean at any level) or DFSee, so something is either mismatched or just fried. My job now is to figure out which. With a new Hitachi I tend to think it might be a mismatch - like a missing land in the ribbon on that older caddy. I intend to try the HD in place of the main drive on the TP, but that isn't where I want it to end up. Jim L, via eCS 1.15 version of OS/2 -- ------------------------ Yahoo!
