Yup. I will have several (only one now) External IDE Hard Drives that plug
into the USB port using these cables. HD Power is supplied via an external
auxillary PS {at} 25 Watts, each drive requires 7.5W while active.
This provides me with portable high speed data transfer (I can quickly backup
small systems on site then provide off-site storage for the backup).
