U.S. Three Coin Commemoratives
Another series of sets that we strongly recommend ar the three-
coin modern commemorative sets from the U.S. Mint. They have
all dropped dramatically from the original mint price and sell
reasonably close to their bullion value. This combination of
gold and silver coins will appreciate with any rise in gold and
silver. They also have a numismatic kicker. The coins are
encased in a beautiful velvet box and make an especially
attractive set for viewing or display.
The 1986 Statue of Liberty set was issued at a price of
$206.50. It contains a silver dollar, a clad half and a
beautiful $5 gold coin that depicts the face of Liberty.
The 1989 Congressional set was issued at $245. It contains a
silver dollar, a clad half and a beautiful $5 gold coin that
features the capitol dome.
The 1991 Mt. Rushmore sets were issued at $255 and contain a
clad half, a silver dollar that features the four Presidents
and a $5 gold coin depicting an eagle flying over the memorial.
This is truly a beautiful set, but unfortunately I can only
offer a few. Better hurry.
The 1993 WWII commemorative was issued at a price of $245. It
combines reasonably low mintage (88,000 gold coins) with three
truly impressive and historic combat scenes. The clad half
depicts a Pacific Island battle scene. The silver dollar
features a soldier on Normandy Beach. The $5 gold depicts a
victorious serviceman raising his rifle. I just bought one of
these sets because it's such a unique piece of history and it's
well done. Here again I have but a few.
Another worthwhile collector set is the 1984 Olympics set
issued at $352. It contains two silver dollars, the 1983S and
the 1984S, along with the only contemporary $10 gold piece that
will likely ever be minted. Each of these silver dollars
feature a fabulous American Eagle. Two torch bearers are
depicted on the big coin. A good buy.
