JP> I had a look at his site and after wending my way through the
JP> chaff, I finally found the part about batteries as they pertain to
JP> boats. Yes, quite interesting.

His conclusions though also would apply fully to those thinking abotu
getting into Anf thing involving Lead Acid Batteries. Like some Solar
Power Systems.

JP> Serving on these subs must have been quite the experience. Good
JP> for you. I would not change my view of the horizon for yours though.
JP> Going at 20 knots when I could go at 700 would not have been fair. Tee !
JP> hee ! We sure lived different lives. Both good and fine.

Looking back I am amaised at how many "Once in a Lifetime" experiences I
have had. One of the best was being on a Submarine that Proved that the
Bearing Straights were OPEN to underwater Traffic ALL year round. MOST
Artic Scientists of that day would have bet BIG money that it was
Blocked in the Winter months. But Dr Waldo Lyons convinced the Navy
to find out. HE personnaly went o nthat trip, as he did o nmany more.
After his Death several years ago a Sub took his ashes to the North
pone and scatered them. And on that trip the Breaking through the Ice
and surfacing at the North pole was a real High Point.
