The most deadly person with a handgun is an untrained female a study several 
years ago found. They shoot reactively for center mass.
As I have stated before I have replaced two officers. One killed but never 
gave the story of the one that was gutshot
HL Washington interupted a burglary with two perps.  While making the 
apprehension he was gutrshot wih a  .357.  After the wound, he returned fire 
with his .38, then handcuffed the now dead  perp and captured second suspect 
bringing him back and cuffing him to dead perp.The officer survived and 
graduated law school a couple years later and now is a successful lawyer, and 
healed just fine.my peers frequently carried more than 2 sets of cuffs as our 
activities were nwaerly always involving multiple perps in an inner city 
setting.
But I find that in todays climate the fear factor is somewhat 
lacking.although the riot gun still seems to rule the street in most cases, 
but is hard to fit in most holsters and shoot in reactive mode.
