Both PATA and SATA are IDE. Just one is a parrallel form, the other
serial, so the Bios is correct to refer to them all as IDE.

Well you have a motherboard with both interfaces, so you can chose,
but you will see in a while all new (and larger) drives will come only
as SATA not PATA.

There are SATA cards to add into non-SATA systems to use the new drives,
but not as far as I know, any options the other way around.
