GE>First, in the English language, the word "you" is often used as an
  >indeterminate pronoun, with the same meaning as "one". ie. "If one has
  >bad credit, one can not charge things". Second, I didn't say you had
  >bad credit. I made the equivalent of an IF/THEN/ELSE statement. IF you
  >have bad credit, THEN you can't charge things, ELSE you can. That was
  >and is the meaning of the statement I made.
Little late for the disclaimer, George. The damage is already done.
GE>And if you're going to start getting defensive and accuse me of libeling
  >you, you better look at some of the accusations you've made about Bell
  >Atlantic NYNEX Mobile and it's agents. You've accused us of criminal
  >activities, and that IS libel.
First of all, you are a reseller for Bell Atlantic Nynex. YOU are not
Bell Atlantic Nynex. Secondly, truth is an absolute defense to an
action for libel.
GE>And regarding the word "free" -- it means that YOU don't have to pay for
  >it. If someone gives you a gift, that gift was paid for by someone,
  >somewhere, but as long as YOU aren't the one doing the paying, then as
  >far as you are concerned IT IS FREE!
You better read some of the court decisions which define the word
"free". Moreover, since that so called "free phone" is part of the
formula for determining the contract terms and deposit requirements
the customer ultimately pays for it. Many Bell Atlantic resellers are
now providing notice to customers by requiring a credit card to
guarantee that they will continue with the contract for a required term
or pay for the cost of the phone. That doesn't sound like free in any
language.
GE>When a cell carrier gives you service, you pay the exact same amount
  >whether you get a new free phone or not. I've activated plenty of phones
  >with Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile for people who already owned phones they
  >got from other carriers or some other source. Those people got the exact
  >same rate plans and airtime charges as people I gave free phones to.
What you say is correct; but it is comparing apples and oranges. Sort
of like the gas station that invites credit card customers to buy gas
at $1.20 a gallon with no credit card sur charge; but the poor guy who
pays cash still pays the same $1.20. (He should have been discounted
the credit card surcharge amount).
