The problem with that being that the "Do Not Call" lists are
ineffective. And with number spoofing techniques used by the most
insegrevious offenders it's impossible to rat them out to the alleged
"authorities". Not to mention that political calls are allowed
and calls from charities - of course, many of the calls from
"charities" are (very) thinly disguised hustles. Also, people
with whom you have a business relationship ... I get calls from (insert
preky female voice's pseudonym here) declaioming "We're calling you
today because you have taken advantage of our (resort/hotel/cruise line) in
the past ..... " Which is false to fact but is likely done to let them
say "Ooooopsie".

I have added a "#9" touch tone keypress to the start of my French
Butler's spiel. It causes many of the robo-calls to hang up without
starting their dreck as soon as the machine recognises a sound from the
called phone. Doesn't work with all of them - but enough that it was worth
doing.
