The other day I went into Target store looking for something, and decided to
browse the books and software section. Our Target *used* to have a nice
selection of kids' educational and fun-type software, and an equally nice
selection of books. However, when I got there Monday afternoon, this section
was downright awful. There was no software in sight at all - and I checked
over in our audio-video department but didn't see it over there at all. As if
that weren't bad enough, I was looking for some of the Roger Lea McBride
books ("Little Farm in the Ozarks" series) for a birthday gift for a little
girl that loves to read. About all Target had to offer were books for the
under-8 set, and a bunch of series books (Goosebumps and Babysitters Club).
They used to have the nice sets of Little House books, and other books for
the 8-12 set.
What a disappointment....especially for those who used to depend on Target
for their reading material (they always discounted the book's cover price,
unlike many of the chain bookstores like Waldenbooks).
