No, they didn't, nor did I, since I wasn't yet born.
However, I have been a fan of the LA Rams since as long as I can
remember.  And for that same amount of time, they've been in the NFC
West, which means that to me, at the very least, the Rams have some
very real rivalries with other NFC West teams.  The rivalries might
not be terribly intense at the moment, since the Rams have sucked
for quite some time, but they are real nonetheless.
I realize that new rivalries would develop.  However, it would be
very difficult for me to adjust to them.  It's easier and more fun
to hate a team (the Niners come to mind) in the same division as
your team than a team in some other division.  And I already hate
(but respect) the Niners very well - I'm good at it, and I don't
want to give it up.
