C>CDs: Genesis -- Seconds Out, remaster
All the Genesis remasters (or at least most) were on sale at the
Whorehouse on N. Blackstone in (what used to be part of) the used CD
section.
C>Hatfield and the North -- The Rotters Club
C> This is pretty good, but it's going to take me a while to really get
C> into it. I keep thinking it's Caravan or Camel whenever Richard
C> Sinclair starts singing. I like is voice a lot. This is more jazzy
C> than Caravan or Camel ever was and that's why it will take me longer
C> to get into.
This and National Health seem to be parts of the same continuum. I'm
slowly getting into _Q's_, which doesn't have the overt symphonic sweep
of most of the music I listen to, but is just as complex.
C>Bruford -- Gradually Going Tornado
C> I don't like the singer, but the music is good.
I have several Bill Bruford and/or Bruford (the band) albums. If you
like that one, you might like the others. I'm not a big fan of any of
them, but _Live Tapes_ has some good stuff on it.
I think I could get into this after I learn to
C> get over the singer (I did the same thing with Allan Holdsworth's
C>_IOU_).
You tend to be a bit finicky about singers...what did you think of that
Renaissance live?
C>Acoustic Alchemy -- Arcanum
To call them Contemporary Jazz is
C> really not correct. Often they are put in the New Age section, but
C> not that's quite right either.
They aren't the only band that has that problem...
C>The Beatles Anthology 3
as well as the originally intended
C> versions of songs from _Let It Be_.
Are they fully finished George Martin versions? I'd buy the Anthology
just for that.
Also, and at quite a surprise
C> to me, Paul's "Come And Get It," which I didn't know he had ever
C> recorded. It's nearly identical to the Badfinger version.
Considering how Paul it sounds in Badfinger's hands, one would tend to
suspect they didn't fiddle around with it much. When God gives you a
song, you just go out and play it, I suppose.
