I have heard NYNEX considers itself OMNIPOTENT, which is POTENT
with OMNI in front as Earnestine says.
Had a landline repair problem with a NYNEX sub a few days ago.
Called NYNEX and they had a problem figuring out if the sub's PBX
or their Portsmouth NH switch.
I suggested they could escalate it to a Foreman or a level 5
manager if need be.  Seems it was being referred to a supervisor
as I spoke.
Not sure if they solved the problem but at least it went from a
time-out to a fast busy to a normal station busy 24 hours a day.
I told them Earnestine is a very good friend fo mine and so is
VIDO, her 350 pound repairman friend.
Speaking of troubles, one day about a year ago, AMTRAC lost their
Canadian coverage on their 800 number.  So I found a regular
number for AMTRAC, asked if they had cancelled the service like
their toll carrier said they had, they said no and I suggeted
they ask their manager to contact their 800 company.
The AMTRAC 800 usa-rail was working a few hours later.  One time
I found an 800 which when the sub asked his 800 carrier why it
didn't work from Canada, which is one of the places he wanted it
to work from, found SPRINT had a software translation problem
which had killed Canadian coverage on all SPRINT 800 numbers for
like six months.
Even one tech at an 800 carrier said he thinks too many firms
trying to play telco are causing problems with the network.
Well time for coffee and donuts.  Our local police station has
relocated to the Duncan donut on the corner.
