I see Rich beat me to it wrt to our military .

One of the guys I work with in the yard is ex-navy (I think) - I'll have to
ask him if he took the '20 years and out'. And he's now
looking into fire fighting....taken the tests for his local FD and is just waiting.

And a lady I used to work with is married to a retired Hamilton FD man.
While he is a little older than me, I think he was under 55 when he retired
(might even have been <50). I think I have her email addy somewhere -
I'll fire her a note and see if he was service or service plus age.

So your buddy is ex-IT? Me too. I had 26 years in when I was
'downsized' and while I enjoyed all those years (for the most part,
anyway) I don't really miss it now. I'm working outside with
longer hours, less money, and a really 'interesting' group of
people. But....I do still subscribe to a couple of the mailing lists that
I read in my 'previous life'. They still make for an interesting read.
