The manual did not help, that is why I am here.  I also assumed the 
last two channels are SATA, but am confused as to why the BIOS wold 
call them IDE.

I have not found that to be the case.  I just got another 200G for $50 
after the lottery (rebate).

Actually, I am putting together two new systems right now.  However, I 
don't generally build a complete sys, I just replace pieces with 
whatever I got a deal on this week.  I am a real sucker for last weeks 
hot stuff that is now cheap.

I currently have about 20 IDE drives.  I assume there is no way to 
connect an IDE drive to a SATA port, true?
