Ummm...we are talking about ID4 aren't we?  These were supposed to be ALIENS! 
Yet somehow they were using identical technology.  I mean IDENTICAL!  Ie: 
chips would have to be same voltages, work same way etc.  For a virus to work 
, you would also need identical operating systems as well.
For one thing, imagine you just going into a completely different computer 
place, that had never heard of ibm or dos, and try and infect them with a 
virus.  Good luck :-)  The movie glosses over how hard it is to make a virus 
and how much info you need on the OS underneath...
