    I'm glad you posted this program, Edward.  It's something all of us 
learners can study with profit.  Such IS rare on the C_PLUSPLUS echo but 
occasionally we ARE rewarded.  The code seems to be unusually clear and since 
I have the Borland 3.00 compiler for DOS it compiled readily.  Big help.
