Yes, I'm a professional counsellor, but not practicing, at the moment, in direct client counselling. With my age (46), seniority (20+ years) & experience (multiple agencies), I'm into senior management, but studying part-time some of the modern practices in counselling. Staying on-topic in a public message however, ... do you have Sydney associates/ contacts? Have you thought of participitating at a national or international level? In my studies, I told my counselling classes that I was trying out my professional skills in some Internet conferences. Briefly and specifically, the Feminism-type conferences, which also touch on international, government ans business issues. I was wondering: can we start a service using cyberspace, to relate in a deliberate business way? If so, how? Should our professional discussions by advertised, or open or intrusive into other parts of cyberspace? In the feminism conferences, I was demonstrating that our profession has little known ways of coping with and dealing with human resource issues. My "demonstrations" were specific and concrete. Sometimes I also included a few jargon terms (eg Johari window) or reference sources, should other onlookers be interested in following further, the world that I was sharing with them. Other areas of Internet are also developing. I'm wondering whether we professional "counsellors" should also voluntary use this forum to contribute our skills and insights. Perhaps you'd like to comment (anyone)? Greg Zeng * Evaluation copy of Silver Xpress.
