I told you I was infamous. Published. Blackhat. Scorchio.

Yes, it does. DOS/WINDOWS/os2warp executables, as I've *always* said.

For many av software, yep; that was your only choice, unless you
contacted me. I had a scanner that would remove it without harm. I
kept one for each virus I authored. It's why so many AV hated me at
one point. I'd taunt those who'd claim it couldn't be disinfected. I'd
provide some infected people the removal tool. They'd post about it,
AVers would take a trashing on usenet over it. Irok was still the
worst for that, though. Many AVers claimed it would wreck your hard
drive data. (It didn't)

He should have let the original authors know. I borrowed them all. I'm
not the original author of a single one of them. I suspect some/all
might predate me.

I had nothing to do with that. Didn't even know about it, until a
reporter from your country no less, contacted me. He wanted to discuss
Toadie over tea. *lol*

He (like you) thought I was local to your area and not based in the
States.

Except for the fact that the quoted article contains a bit of fiction
on the part of Graham Cluley.

Specifically this:

As well as spreading in the ‘normal' manner, the author
tried to make the virus spread via USENET groups (in the
form of a cell phone cloner and a generator for adult Web
site passwords). Similar distribution of a porn list via
USENET may soon get the Melissa author into trouble.

I didn't do either of the aforementioned things he claimed. I also
wasn't in hiding or running in any way shape or form when Toadie was
released. And by released, It was put on a pro virus website.

Disabled, (ie, you couldn't download it, unzip/run and infect anyone)
with documentation clearly outlining what it was. You had to follow
specific instructions to make it viral and infectious. As provided
originally by me, it wasn't harmful. Avers didn't publish those
details because well, with all the facts, I don't look as 'evil'.

Who wants to read about a virus writer that wrote viruses you couldn't
use to harm someone, without taking additional steps? That's boring!
That's not going to scare anybody and boost AV software sales. Damn
that virus writer, openly challenging them on usenet. [g]
