Unless you are using the recent 2500 mhz cpus and a recent high
performance video card, you are way overpowered. The devices you mention
draw under 20 watts under power. The video card and CPU I mentioned draw
>50 or even >70 when running flat out. Did I mention a substantial audio
amplifier on a card ($>100) under the hood, too?)
You will pay more, and continue to pay more in electricity and air
conditioning costs. There will NEVER be a time when even all the devices
you mention are running at once.
You need a QUALITY 300 watt PS, at most.

Hello All You Poor Conductors
Do you think 480 Watts is enough to get the job done?
2 CD-ROM drives
1 CDR drive
1 DVD DRIVE
1 Tape drive
1 Smart Card - USB port connector(?)
2 3 1/2" Floppy drives
2 200GB PATA hard drives
1 motherboard
to start with.
OK, it is looking like the Antec Neopower 480 is the power supply
I was drooling over back in March.
Does anyone have any experience with one of these?
I surfed on over to Antec's web page, but did not get a clear
picture of the Neopower 480 setup.
They have 2 different Neopower 480 models. They also have a dozen
different power lead models.
It is not al all clear to me what one actually gets when they buy
a power supply.
Also, the power supply leads length were given in cm, not inches,
so I was not sure I was on the correct page.
Guess I need to take this slow and easy until I can rest up from
an exerting(?) weekend of painting and assimilate the info here.
Thanks
HPT
