-> I am a complete newbie and would love some advice on what type of
-> scanner to start out with. I interested in listening to just about
-> anything interesting. I would like the unit to work in my car as
-> well as my home.
I'd recommend a handheld scanner, Dave. Why? Here's a few reasons:
- easily portable
- use anywhere
- use during power failures
Now, you might need an external antenna in the car, but other than that,
it'll be fine. For a specific model, I'd recommend something with 50 to
100 channels and 800 MHz coverage. The Uniden SportCat SC150 is a good
model. Other people on this group can recommend good scanners for you
from other manufacturers.
