I agree that "If I'd Killed Him ..." is amusing but my favorite McCrumb 
novels are the ones featuring Spencer Arrowood -- If Ever I Return, Pretty 
Peggy-O, The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, and She Walks These Hills.
