Subject: www.amway-abn.com not usable by the blind
Hello folks,
Last 3week I had occasion to call Amway Corporation and found out that the
AMway Business network, (ABN) is now on the internett. You hno longer need
to have compuserve in order to access ABN.  However when we, along with
our downline sdistributers tried to access this site we discovered two
things.  First of all ABN only works with Netscape, or Internet EXplorer.
You can not access the site at all from Dos using abrowser such as lynx.
ADd to that since this site is for use specifically by Amway Distributers
ytou must log in using your ADA number and a pin number, but rather than
use a hyper link for the log-in area they have used an iconn which you
must click on inorder to get to the log-in screen, and that locks us out
all together.  WE tried using several screen readers to access ABN but
could not fijnd thje log-in icon at all.  Thgiis is a shaim as here is one
resource we as blind AMwahy DIstributers could obtain the information wwe
need to grow our businesses in a form we can access independently.  FOr
example, the Amagram, and the Newsgram along with many other kinds of
articles and other information is contained on this site.
Mary and i along with several of our downline have all ready contacted
AMway to make them aware of this situation and to urge them to corect this
matter so we too can access ABN along with AMway's other World Wide WEb
SItes and there are over 1000 of them.
WE began the charge.  now we are calling for reinforcements from those of
you who are AMway DIstributers to halp get tthis situation fixed.  You can
send an E-mail message to: netinfo@amway.com, or WEbmastter@amway.com.  WE
also sent them a copy of an article on designing web pages so they will be
blind friendly.  now we need to make sure that something is done to
moddify this site so we too can avail ourselves of it's contents.  Please
write to AMway and let them know that you would like to access ABN and
that as it is currently designed blind persons are unable to access that
site and that you want to urge them to design this, and other AMway sites
so they are blind friendly.
