ZR>Here's something I did with Aaron this week to introduce the concepts of
ZR>addition and subtraction. On the patio, using chalk, we made a line of
large
ZR>single digit numbers, one to nine. He stood on number 1, and next to him
ZR>wrote a simple addition problem (like 1+2) and then he took two steps
forward
ZR>to get to 3. At three, I wrote 3+2 and he took two more steps and got to
5.
ZR>At five I wrote 5-3 and he took three steps backwards. You get the idea.
ZR>This game continued until all the numbers were used. Cimeron, my second
ZR>grader, came home from school later and was thrilled to play this game
too...
ZR>though she already knows all the math facts up through about 15.
That looks excelent! I have had trouble getting Tam to understand
number lines, maybe that will help.
