Hello Kevin!
On 14 Apr 95, Kevin Kline hammered on the keyboard to All:
KK> I've seen some adds and BBS coments about AMA insurance versus
KK> SFA. Now as I understand it SFA insurance has a $250.00 deductable
KK> which the individual is responsible for and the rest is covered by the
KK> insurance company SFA works through.
KK> AMA on the other hand also has a $250.00 deductable the
KK> individual is responsible for but,
Both AMA and SFA are secondary insurers. Your Homeowner's coverage or
other general liability is primary. AMA and SFA only step up to pay
when all other insurance has been exhausted. If you have no other
insurance, then AMA/SFA will pay first. I haven't heard anything about
deductibles except for replacement on stolen aircraft.
KK> AMA itself then covers the cost up to $250,000.00 This is sort
KK> of like a 1/4 million deductable with the AMA covering most of
KK> it right?
Haven't heard of this either. The AMA's aggregate coverage is 3 million...
that's 3 million divided by all members.
KK> I am curious since I can see where every modeler is staking
KK> their homes and family wellfare on the concept that the AMA will pay.
KK> I know they always have to this point but then, the Titanic was
KK> unsinkable before it hit the ice. What's the scoop? In english
KK> please.
What if my auto insurance company doesn't pay... what if my health
insurance company doesn't pay... etc...? The world is full of "what
if's". All we can do when we put our trust in any company is to look
at their past record, and rely on government regulations to punish them
if they DO screw us over.
C-ya! Rich
