Great, Janelle. I, too, was born in Texas (Dallas). I managed to track dowm
my
birth family. I went to the State Archive Bldg and looked in the birth index
for 1946, and matched my BC# with the number in the index. Ouila! Eureka!
Texas is a good state to search in.

Contact the orphanage or wherever she was adopted FROM. They will have de-
identified info. In some cases (welfare/orphanage closed), records may be
held
by the state of Texas (Health Dept). Thats the place to start.

When searching for infomation avoid the "A" (adopted/adoption) word
like the plague. Use the 'genealogy" approach. I did, and I felt it worked
better.

Congratulations on your 'find'. I know what a feeling it is. I found on May
13th, 1994. Don't worry about the info,it'll come, and soon, he will have
that
which he seeks.
God Bless!
