In my teens I had a Raleigh 3 speed bicycle, with the mechanism all hidden
inside the rear hub. I rode all over Scotland on that thing. We stayed in
Youth Hostels. You brought your own sheets, and had to do work (like sweep
the kitchen floor) before you could check out.
