| subject: | F1: Williams Valencia test notes 2004-02-18 |
BMW WilliamsF1 Team driver Juan Pablo Montoya set a new lap record on the first day of testing at Valencia, the penultimate test before the team heads to Melbourne. Valencia, known for its year-round sunshine, was unusually chilly and cloudy today, with temperatures just about creeping up to 14ÇC. Juan Pablo and test driver Marc Genˆ, both driving WilliamsF1 BMW FW26s, had similar objectives today. In the morning both drivers worked on tyre evaluations for Michelin, with Juan Pablo focusing on constructions and Marc on compounds. Later in the day they both concentrated on traction control and simulated race starts. On the 69th of his 86 laps, Juan Pablo broke the (unofficial) lap record established by team-mate Antonio Pizzonia last month, posting a best time of 1:09.103. Marc completed 93 laps, setting a personal best of 1:10.301. Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1): "On our first day back at Valencia, Juan Pablo worked on set-up changes, tyre construction testing, brake cooling and traction control routines on the FW26 throughout the day. Marc spent most of the session tyre testing, working through different compounds for Michelin." Juan Pablo continues testing tomorrow, while Ralf Schumacher will take over from Marc. -williams- http://www.motorsport.com -- your source for motorsport news on the Internet --- FIDOGATE 5.2.0ds-alpha3* Origin: TCOB1.net a way of life...
