subject: F1: Indy pit walkabout returns

The United States Grand Prix pit walkabout, one of the most popular,
fan-friendly features at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in recent
years, will return Thursday, June 17, kicking off the USGP weekend, June
17-20.

The walkabout will take place from 8 a.m.-noon (EST, local time) and
is free to all 2004 USGP ticket holders. This is one of the few fan
walkabouts available on the 18-event, global F1 schedule in 2004.

The inaugural walkabout last September was a resounding success, as
thousands of fans packed the Formula One garage area and pit road to
get an up-close look at the exotic cars and sophisticated teamwork of
Formula One.

"We're excited about the return of the pit walkabout to kick off track
activities during the United States Grand Prix," said Joie Chitwood,
Indianapolis Motor Speedway senior vice president of business affairs.
"The fan response last year was overwhelming, and we learned many
lessons. We will be better prepared to handle the vehicle and pedestrian
traffic associated with this event.

"All of the F1 teams also were greatly impressed with the turnout, and
many team officials asked us after the event how their teams could
become more involved in this fantastic event this year. We are planning
additional activities this year to enhance the day for the fans."

During the pit walkabout, fans can walk the pits and stand adjacent to
the open garages, providing a clear view of the sleek cars, high-tech
equipment and skilled personnel of all 10 Formula One teams, including
standouts Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, BMW WilliamsF1 Team and West
McLaren Mercedes. Those top teams from the 2003 season will lead the
field into the fifth annual Formula One race on the 2.605-mile road
circuit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

While no formal driver appearances are scheduled during the walkabout,
six-time World Champion Michael Schumacher and his archrival, 2000
Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya, were among the drivers who
signed for fans during last year's USGP walkabout.
