In a related sidenote ... there have been a couple of articles (within the
past week) about "plastic surgery for the vocal chords". 
Basically, people are getting a full workup on their faces and look much
younger but, as soon as the start speaking, they sound as old as they are. 
So surgeons inject something (collagen?) into the vocal chords and the net
result is a younger sounding voice.  It's still a risky business and,
apparently, they won't try it with singers.  But for people who uses their
voices for a living, it makes some sense.
