Hi, Jerry....
JK> newbee but after that WATCH OUT. I flew R\c's in the Marine Corps for
JK> 8 years making a living at my hobby. It all come back real quick.
So....talk about having your cake and eating it too ??? - how nice !!
Were you involved with the remote piloted drone programs ?
RM>> so the old low-winger is 10 yrs old, what is it ??
JK> It's arf planet-40 I got in a trade. Got a os46 long stoke it it and
JK> it does very well for a smaller pattern style plane.. I still can do
I don't recall that model - not unexpected, though - I've never been
involved in pattern flying - just couldn't seem to get the hang of it -
still do have an old Midwest Mach-1 that can do the pattern stuff, now
retired but still useable - mostly I just flew it in big circles, loops,
and an occasional Cuban-8 - has a very old Veco 61 on it - good engine
in its time, but not competitive with the hot stuff available now.
JK> eveyone thought I finally bought a new plane.. I have a skip mast
JK> c-130 all cut out and ready for work. Have the fiberglass nacelles for
JK> it and all. That's been sitting around for about 12 years. I thought
VERY IMPRESSIVE - how about completing it and coming down to the Joe Nall
IMAA meet next year - the C-130 would be a real standout. This year in
early October, there is to be a "world champion" aerobatics competition
meet in Greenville, SC, at the Joe Nall flying site - invited pilots only
but spectators welcome - should be a REAL contest - think about coming down.
BTW - scale is my bag - have several WWII warbirds in my hangar - have a
1/5 scale T-28B scheduled as one of my Winter-time projects - working on
the 90" wingspan J-3 (with floats) for a local customer, will get started
on a 83" wingspan Citabria (mine) next week. TTYL - Roger
JK> I wanted to build one when I was a USMC Kc-130 guy. (Wanaa buy it?)
JK> Than I got tied up with Byron jets and that project took the back seat
JK> (and is still there)!..
JK> We DO have a well-stocked hobby shop in a
RM>> small town
RM>> about 18 miles away, so my needs are met pretty well -
RM>> still, a good bit
RM>> of my "stuff" comes via mail order - currently building a
RM>> Sig Hog-Bipe -
RM>> put the primer paint coat on today - tommorow it's
RM>> wet-sanding day and
RM>> first color coat - certainly a well engineered kit -
RM>> pleasure to build.
RM>> Write often. TTYL - Roger
