Actually, the burden of proof is on you -- you are the one making the
positive assertion that the Anglo-Spanish conflict was primarily a war of
religion.

Better to ask WHY the Dutch revolt took on a religious character, and why
the Anglo-Spanish war ended when both nations were still holding to their
respective religions.
