You misunderstand me. I'm not talking about fan power. This mobo has a
separate cable that is CPU power. The fan plugs in elsewhere.

The cable with the 4 pin connector.

I'd have to buy a PSU, which I just might anyway.
As a matter of fact that latter is exactly what is done and with no risk
whatever. It's the mobo that has run on this PSU for over a year - the
one running the system I'm typing on right now.
