I may have given the impression that I have no respect for fidonet
and the people who have made it work with their ideas, their time,
and their money. This would be wrong, I do respect what fidonet
represents.

For me, fidonet proved that average people could work together
to create a system of distribution and _maintain_ that system
without the need for "rocket scientists". A marvel of it's time
for me and for many others.

I have always had respect for those who wrote and maintained
BBS software even before I volunteered to join them and do what
I could do for the hobby.

Unfortunately my interests lie more in the programming of
telecom software than with the day to day details of file
distribution whether that be messages, software, ISO images, or
'other'. I have little to no interest in the details of how
fidonet is organized or how the distribution system maintains
itself. This is not to say the topic is of no importance, only
that it is not an area I personally am interested in. I have no
interest in networking or setting up a server (FTP, email, or
otherwise).

Lacking these interests doesn't make me a 'bad guy' and my lack
of interest does not imply a lack of respect for those who _do_
find those topics to be of interest to them.

We are not clones of one another and there are times when my
areas of interest have been of use to myself and others and
there have been times when they were of NO use. It varies. :-)
