Napoleon. Napoleon III. Charles De Gaulle. They don't want another one.

But he was NOT an oppressed minority -- he was a politician, working in a
political system. His success or failure was his own responsibility.
No one was passing laws preventing his successors from voting, outlawing
his books, and so on.

And we ought not to let anyone who hides him get away with it. I'm not
advocating an attack on Syria, but if they're shielding him, a little raid
and maybe a few Tomahawks wouldn't hurt.

She would hold him over her head to absorb the first impact.

Yes -- in fact, the F14s we sold her back in the good old days are sitting
on the tarmac for lack of spare parts. If they can't produce spare parts,
how can they produce complete aircraft?

That depends. The Iranians certainly fought the Iraqis harder. But there
is some indication they might not fight us -- they might fall apart.
If they DO fight, a pitched battle would simply allow us to kill them in
wholesale lots.

The campaign could have been written by the faculty of the Command and
General Staff College.

Yep -- they answer to the man on the ground, not someone up in the air.
