in a Ferrari 250 GTO. The race was a 2,000 kilometer event, making Rodrigues
the only driver to win at both the three-hour and 2,000 kilometer distances.

Feb. 16, 1974 -- Richard Petty wins his fifth Daytona 500.

Feb. 16, 1975 -- Benny Parsons wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 16, 1976 -- David Pearson wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 16, 1986 -- Geoff Bodine wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 16, 1992 -- Davey Allison wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 16, 1997 -- Jeff Gordon wins his first Daytona 500.

event at Daytona International Speedway but Al Unser wins the IROC title.

Feb. 17, 1980 -- Buddy Baker wins the Daytona 500, setting a record for the
fastest 500-mile race ever.

Feb. 17, 1985 -- Bill Elliott wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 17, 1991 -- Ernie Ervan wins the Daytona 500.

Feb. 17, 2002 -- Ward Burton wins the Daytona 500.
