Not quite. This would allow you to assign a PCI modem with IO address
cc00 that uses irq 4 to COM5.

No, it does not. It wants to commicate via some IO address in PCI address
space. You may want to assign the modem to COM5, but this is up to you.
That hardware could care less.

It works for Phil. It will work for you if you truely have a PCI modem
that looks just like an ISA modem at the UART interface.

I suggest you can safely ignore Kris's statement.

Phil is. I've set up ActionTecs in the past.

Since you have eCS, you already have a version of SIO2K. One major
difference between SIO 1.x and 2.x is that SIO 2.x contains native support
for PCI modems. The SIO 2.x version shipped with eCS has problems on some
systems, but my POV is its worth your while to give it a try.
You will not be able to purchase a retail copy of 1.60d. Ray and his site
disappeared a couple of years ago. Ray owns the gwinn.com domain until
2008. Perhaps someone will sell you a copy they are no longer using.
Of course, I mentioned before, since you only have a single modem, you
just use IBM's com.sys and be done with it.
