subject: Playing a wav file

I was thinking that at one place in a program I wrote I would like to
have some sort of sound (other than a simple beep or bell which usually
indicates an error). My conclusion was that it would probably be
easiest (as well as sounding the best) if I could play a simple wav
file. The trouble is that I don't know where to even start looking for
help on the web.

Does anybody have an idea of a word or phrase that might be the seed for
a search? BTW, if it makes any difference, I'm working with MSVC in NT.
