This issue has come up before. The problem is the same as we faced when the
Yahoo groups gateway was active - all Fidonet mail appears on the Internet
side of things to have come from the same person. This screws up quoting
and such on this side of the fence, so the mangled name was added to
identify the sender when the message came from Fidonet. Unfortunately, when
the name gets propagated back across the fence, the additional information
appended messes up your Fidonet mailer.

Janis is in charge of the gateway for coming from the Internet to Fidonet,
and Jon Guthrie handles the private newsgroup on the SNIPPETS server for
traffic going the other way. I'm copying each of them on this message to
see if there's an easy way to address your problem. The goal is simple:
clearly identify each poster on both sides of the gateway without breaking
existing mail handlers. The solution is probably more complicated...
