At 44 kHz I make it 86 Kbytes per second for mono, 16-bit audio. Stereo
would be 172 Kbytes. A 4.7 Gb disk should store over 7 hours of raw
uncompressed stereo, and that's without resorting to things like MP3. 48
kHz would be similarly practical.
