Don't believe everything Canadian Anglophones have to say about French-Canadians. Not the least of the problems up there is the traditional lack of understanding by the English speakers of their French-speaking counterparts. The prejudice is intense and very widespread. Of course France was very popular among French-Canadians back when Charles de Gaulle was supporting the separatist movement. It is still popular, although the French-Canadians do tend to resent the ignorant American who thinks of Quebec as just an extension of France or the equally ignorant English-speaking Canadians who think the separatist movement was all about making Quebec a part of France and undoing the Brit take-over. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
