The ice plant next to where I work has a bunch of ammonia compressors, and
you're right about the slight stink. My Dad had a dairy back in the late '40s
and early '50s and the [ammonia] refrigeration compressor would occassionally
leak so bad that you couldn't go in the boiler room with it.
