Hello David,
DW> Talk about your Alternative Medicine! Tonight's network evening news
DW> featured a piece on bee-sting therapy for multiple sclerosis victims.
DW>
DW> I'd never heard of it, but apparently thousands of MS patients have
DW> found relief. No joke! They actually allow themselves to be stung by
DW> bees and wasps. The subject has apparently gained enough attention
DW> among the traditionalists so that genuine clinical research has begun
DW> at the ivory tower level.
DW> Does anyone know something on this matter that Tom Brokaw and Dan
DW> Rather don't know? If bee venom becomes a valuable commodity, we might
DW> see a lot more honey in the stores!
No you won't.
The reason is because honeybees in the US have decined in population
by approx 40% during the past 24 months as a result of a number of
factors, primarily a mite infection and the ever increasing use of
pesticides. In fact there is a very serious concern among farmers
that too few bees for pollination will markedly reduce yields in
dozens of crops.
