Which version of firefox are you using?

What plugins/addons do you have installed?

Let's try starting firefox without ANY plugins installed.

surf over to youtube and see if it'll play a video.

Have you updated adobe flash player for firefox?

I don't believe it did.

Did you do a fresh reboot from a clean disc and reload, or did you
start the process from within windows that you think had malware?

If you did have a malware issue causing it, the reloading from image
would have nuked the malware issue. Unless, the malware issue was
already present when you created (not restored from) the image.

Yes, but each time I've heard/observed it, the cause/repair was
different. In one case, noscript was blocking youtube. In another, it
didn't have a good copy of adobe flash player installed that firefox
could use. In yet another case, the firefox browser was corrupted. And
in yet another case, Malware was preventing the flash player plugin
from being loaded by Firefox. I have also seen various types of
browser toolbar addons become a problem. But they weren't restricted
to just messing up youtube videos. Some of them would mess with hulu
video playback as well.

Different reasons for it, different fixes.
